In this rebranding endeavor, we were entrusted with creating compelling brand messaging to bridge the City of Monticello with its residents and visitors, crafting a clear and captivating narrative. Through meticulous research, we developed Monticello’s Brand Cornerstones, Story, and Tagline, ensuring a unified and resonant identity for the community.

We worked with city leadership & residents to determine the four cornerstones of their brand & what makes Monticello unique: Legacy, Pride, Resources, and Location.

Brand Story

Located in the heart of Central Illinois, Monticello is more than a pass-through; it’s a destination. They cherish their landmarks and attractions, creating an inviting place to live, work, and play. City leadership is dedicated to supporting residents, businesses, and organizations with ample resources and programs. Together, the community fosters pride, inclusivity, and a sense of belonging for all who call Monticello home.

After extensive work with focus groups we identified a tagline that connects Monticello’s close proximity to other communities with their distinct attributes: “Close to Everything. Far from Everyday.”

The New Mark

Clanin Creative pinpointed the heart and soul of Monticello: the vibrant Downtown Square. Known regionally, this active district is the community’s gathering spot for shopping, events, and entertainment.

We crafted an eye-catching abstract mark of the downtown grid, embodying Monticello’s charm and incorporating it into a bold, modern design for versatile use across city departments.
